the spring softball season has begun

On Wednesday, we had our first game of the season. In truth, it was only a practice game, played without umpires or lines on the field, but it was still a game. I went 1 for 3, with a home run and 3 RBI's. It wasn't a run really fast home run - it was the hit the ball over the fence kind. We won our game, and then won 3rd place at trivia later that night. So it was a good night around.

My sister Amy is in town this week on business. And there's a big birthday bash this weekend for Judi. Other than that, though, there's not too much else new around here.

new server location for www.jakevil.com

After a lot of headaches with the place that was previously serving my website, I made the decision to move it elsewhere. Unfortunately, I'm pretty cheap, and my options are limited. So I moved it to my house. What this means to you is that things may be slower than they used to be. What it means to me is a huge headache; trying to get apache to not crash proved difficult. In the end, it wasn't the software, but my configuration, that was the problem, but it took me a few days to figure that out. With all the other things one should do to secure a public-facing server, this cutover has pretty much consumed a couple weeks, off and on. But I think it should be all set, at least for now.
